Equestrian Center

VDF – Vale de Ferreiros is located in a small traditional village called Pego, in the south bank of Tagus river, 7kms away from Abrantes, right in the center of the country. This project combines tourism, leisure and sports, with a special focus on equestrian activities. A concept designed for both training and competition at high level and for leisure related activities like outdoor rides enjoying nature in the surroundings or through longer trails taking one or more days.

• The Equestrian infrastructures are the following:

A training track with 60m x 20m with silica sand mixed with fibers with an automatic irrigation system;

A competition track with 90m x 45m, designed also for international events, with silica sand with fibers and an automatic irrigation system;

• Stable for a minimum of 12 horses with all relevant facilities;

• Parking area for a minimum of 40 trucks and trailers;

• An area for mobile stabling with a capacity for more than 120 horses.

• Rental accommodation for horses: in box or in the fields;

• Rental of sports facilities;

• Organization of Show Jumping, Dressage and Trekking training and competition events;

• Organization of Outdoor Rides along the river, through plains and valleys with plenty of cork, pine and olive trees.

• Beginners and intermediate classes – “Jumping” and “Dressage”;

• General horse riding courses;

• Collaboration with schools, filling the students free time with sports activities, providing short term jobs for trainees, etc;

In a perfect “habitat”, in plains along the river Tejo, one may find the most fertile land in the region, where horses are bred.

Our own horses are all KWPN, of Dutch origins, with very particular skills for Jumping and Dressage. The good genetics associated with permanent training done by good professional riders are critical points in their performance.
